Turn a photo into a video by describing the motion

Upload one photo, say what should move, and Banana Studio animates it into a short clip. You choose the video model, so you can balance price, sound and quality for every shot.

  • From 32 credits
  • 9 models to choose from
  • 5-second clips

Opens Banana Studio with your prompt filled in. You add your photo there, and the price shows before you confirm.

Photo to video: what it does well

  • Your photo is the first frame

The clip starts from your picture, so the person, product or place is exactly the one you chose, not a look-alike.

  • A model for every shot

Use Kling 3.0 for portraits, Happy Horse 1.1 when you want sound and speech generated with the clip, and H3 Max Turbo when a simple movement is all you need.

  • The shape follows your photo

With most models the clip keeps your photo's proportions, so a tall phone photo becomes a tall video for Stories and Reels.

  • An end frame when you need one

Two photos, one video lets you set the first and the last frame, which is handy for reveals and before-and-after clips.

Photo to video: how it works

  1. Upload your photo

In Create, choose Video, then Bring a photo to life, and add a JPG, PNG or WebP file up to 4 MB.

  2. Describe the motion

Say what moves and what the camera does, for example: hair moves in the wind, she smiles, slow zoom in.

  3. Pick a model and create

Choose the model and the quality. The Create button shows the exact credits before you start, and the clip lands in History.

Who it is for

  • Travel and lifestyle posts

Add movement to a still from a trip: waves rolling in, clouds drifting, a tram passing by.

  • Product sellers

Give a product shot a slow turn or a sweep of light for listings and ads.

  • Family memories

Animate an old family photo with a small, gentle motion to share with relatives.

Good to know

  • Keep the movement simple. One clear action per clip works better than a list of events.
  • Some models decline photorealistic photos of people. In our tests Kling 3.0 animated portraits that Seedance 2.0 refused.
  • Clips are short, so tell a longer story as several clips and join them in an editor.
  • Upload only photos you took yourself or have permission to use.

Questions about Photo to video

Which model is best for photo to video?

For photos of people, start with Kling 3.0. For sound and speech generated with the clip, try Happy Horse 1.1 or Kling 3.0 with sound on. The table on this page lists every model's starting price.

How many credits does a photo to video clip cost?

It depends on the model and settings: from 32 credits (H3 Max Turbo, 480p) to 2,560 credits (Seedance 2.5, 1080p) per 5-second clip. The 7-day introduction ($1.99, 240 credits) covers 7 clips at the lowest setting, and the Pro plan's 2,200 monthly credits cover about 68 clips. The exact price for your settings is shown on the Create button before you start.

Do I need to write a prompt to animate a photo?

Yes, a short one. Banana Studio needs a few words describing the motion before it can create. Say what moves and how the camera behaves.

Will the video keep my photo's shape?

With most models, yes: the clip follows the shape of the photo. Seedance 2.0 and 2.0 Fast instead let you pick 16:9, 9:16, 1:1, 4:3 or 3:4.

Can I animate a photo of my pet?

Yes. Photo to video works with any subject: pets, products, places or artwork. If you want your pet to dance to a song, see the dance video feature.

What happens to the photo I upload?

Banana Studio keeps uploads, prompts and results while your account exists or until you delete them from History; deleted items are removed within 30 days. The Privacy Policy has the details.
